ILEA-South
The DOS has designated the U.S. Department
of Treasury as the lead agency for the ILEA-South. As such, the
Treasury Department has designated the FLETC in Glynco, Georgia
as the Director of the program. The DEA serves as the Deputy Director.
The first session was held 11/2-12/5/1997 at the El Panama Hotel
in Panama City, Panama. The session included 32 students, four (4)
each from the countries of Belize, the Dominican Republic, Costa
Rica,
El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Panama. ILEA-South
has sponsored two speciality courses for Central America in the
areas of Advance Financial Crimes and Drug Investigations.
The FBI has been designated to teach the
following blocks of instruction:
- 8 hours of crime scene investigation
- 8 hours organized crime enterprise theory
of investigation
- 14 hours of investigative management and
techniques
- (Team taught with FLETC)
- 8 hours of auto theft
- (Team taught with USCS
